Samson-ite

I cut AG's almost-four-year-old hair today (Kuya JD did the "commitment cut," an anonymous hairdresser continued the job halfheartedly - his styling took less time than my pedicure!, and I did a great deal of zhuzsh-ing, another two inches or so I think, hopefully not too badly!). An honor and a privilege for me, and a very happy occasion for all involved. And a confirmation of my calling to be a hairdresser. Oh yeah baby...

Jhill, think of all the money you'll save on shampoo and liquid sosa! :-) Congratulations, dude, I'm proud of you.

Homecomings

Two straight nights in a row of reunions - it's been a crazy couple of nights. Friday night, after a long day of running around town and cooking for the Saturday feeding, I caught the tail-end of our annual girlfriend get-together at Miles'. SAMASKOM called us the "sisters" - we've known each other since 1986! - although all of us except yours truly (and Doyet in Canada) are now mothers. Marivic now lives in Sydney but visits Manila every year around Christmas, so we always make it a point to catch up. Didn't much of that because I had to be good and wake up early for the first Saturday feeding of the year.

But I more than made up for the (relatively) early night the next day. Bong - my oldest MassComm friend - had been texting me the previous day about attending Aling Suming's gathering (apparently a UP College of Mass Comm homecoming), and although I was initially ambivalent about going, I agreed to meet him, Neboy, and Ney (all of whom are part of the SAMASKOM "sisters" male counterpart - the "K___s").

Wasn't too bad - CMC with its new building isn't the school we "grew up" in, and I got to see old schoolmates and professors I hadn't seen for decades. Plus, since we hung around late enough to be present for the raffle, we got to take home some booty (600 pesos worth of Globe pre-paid load, a couple of bottles of wine, an original DVD, and Neboy's coffee maker and hot water kettle which he threatened to give me as wedding presents) before proceeding to join Allan and Ronald at the main event of the night - the traditional marathon drinking/bonding/chika session which we've been conducting, although a lot less frequently, since the mid-80's. And, just like in the '80's, we adjourned, with much love and affection until the next time, in the wee hours of the morning (although I behaved myself and declined the k_____'s invitation to a 3:30 am breakfast, thank you very much). Speaking of the '80s, I missed out on a high school get together that same night - too many reunions, too little time, too old to be out so late!

Hmmm

Test...something's amiss in the blogging universe...
